London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
The Olympic Games start with the Opening Ceremony on 27th July 2012 and run until the Closing Ceremony on 12 August 2012. Two weeks after the olympic Games finish, the Paralympic Games begin. They open on 29 August 2012 and close on 9 September 2012. Transport For London (TFL) have decided that there will be severe delivery restrictions imposed in and around London while the Games are taking place. They aim to reduce London traffic by 35% by stopping delivery vehicles making deliveries during normal working hours and restricting them to making deliveries only from the hours of 12 midnight to 6am in the morning. To assist with this process there will be specific traffic lanes set up on all major routes, which are for Games traffic only and heavy fines (£200) will be imposed on any unauthorised vehicles found driving in them outside of the 6 hour window. There will also be left or right hand turn road closures, to help speed up the traffic flow and help security precautions. Any vehicle found stopping on any of the designated Games routes will be penalised. These restrictions are in force during the time, both while the Games are staged, allowing for 2 days either side of their start and finish. From Wednesday the 25th July to Tuesday, 14th August for the Olympics and from Monday 27th August to Tuesday, 11th September for the Paralympics. It is Janilec's intention to deliver as normal a service as possible. Bearing in mind, that although you may not be situated directly in an affected area, we still might have difficulty reaching you. However, we are making plans accordingly. We will be offering: Out of hours delivery, Customer collections from our warehouse and asking our customers to increase their stock prior to the start of the events. It would be helpful if you could inform us which of the above plans would best suite your needs. It would also assist us, if we only deliver to you a maximum of once per week during the restrictions.
